App terms

These terms apply when you create an account for or use the Sniffr iPhone app and related services in the United States. By using Sniffr, you agree to these terms. The separate early-access terms apply only to that offer.
Service and eligibility
Sniffr helps dog owners create profiles, discover nearby dogs, make mutual matches, chat and coordinate playdates. You must be at least 18 years old to use Sniffr. Sniffr is not a human-dating service.
Your account
Provide accurate information, keep access to your account secure and promptly tell us if you believe it has been misused. Do not impersonate another person, create an account for a child, transfer your account without permission, or use another person's sign-in credentials.
Your content
You keep the rights you have in content you submit. You give Sniffr a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, transmit, display and moderate that content only as needed to operate and secure the service and enforce these terms. This license ends when the content is deleted from our active systems, except where the content remains with another user's account, is connected with a co-owned dog, or is retained as described in the app privacy policy.
You must have the rights and permissions needed to submit photos, messages, profile information and meetup details. Discoverable profiles and public profile-photo URLs may be visible to others. Conversation recipients may copy, save or share messages and photos they receive.
Safety, reports and meetups
Follow the community guidelines. Use Sniffr's reporting and blocking tools for unwanted contact, abuse, unsafe conduct or prohibited content. We aim to begin reviewing submitted reports within 24 hours, but that target is not a guarantee and complex matters may take longer. We may review reports, remove or restrict content, limit features, suspend accounts, preserve relevant records or take other proportionate safety action.
Sniffr does not supervise meetups or verify that another user, owner or dog is safe or suitable. Use your own judgment, meet in an appropriate public place, control your dog, respect local rules and leave if a situation feels unsafe. Sniffr is not an emergency service. Contact local emergency services if anyone is in immediate danger.
Acceptable use
Do not use Sniffr to:
- harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, defraud or endanger any person or animal;
- submit unlawful, abusive, deceptive, infringing or harmful content, or content you do not have permission to use;
- misrepresent a person, dog, ownership relationship or meetup;
- scrape, harvest or commercially exploit profiles or communications;
- bypass access controls, probe for vulnerabilities, introduce malicious code, overload the service or interfere with another person's use; or
- use the service for unlawful commercial solicitation, animal sales, breeding solicitations, fighting or other harmful activity.
Enforcement and account closure
We may remove content or suspend, limit or close an account when we reasonably believe that doing so is needed to address a violation, protect users or animals, investigate misuse, reduce security risk or preserve the service. When appropriate, you can ask Support to review an enforcement decision.
You may stop using Sniffr at any time and can delete your Sniffr account in the app. Account deletion and information that may remain are described in the app privacy policy. Terms that by their nature should continue after account closure, including ownership, license exceptions, safety records and responsibility for prior conduct, will continue.
Free launch and future features
Core Sniffr functionality is free at launch. No paid feature is offered under these terms. If paid features are introduced later, their price, renewal and cancellation terms will be presented before purchase and these terms will be updated when needed.
Availability and responsibility
We may change, interrupt or discontinue features as the service evolves. We do not promise that Sniffr will always be available, error-free or suitable for every dog, owner or meetup. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided “as is” and “as available.” These terms do not limit rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be limited.
Your license to the iPhone app is also subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement. Apple is not responsible for operating the Sniffr service.
Changes to these terms
If we materially change these terms, we will post the revised version here, update its effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate. Changes apply prospectively from their stated effective date. If you do not agree to revised terms, stop using Sniffr and delete your account.
