Good dogs. Considerate people.
Community guidelines
Effective September 8, 2026
Sniffr is for adults helping dogs make safe, friendly connections. These guidelines apply to profiles, photos, messages, reports, playdates and conduct involving someone you meet through Sniffr.
Respect people and boundaries
- Do not harass, bully, threaten, stalk, intimidate, shame, blackmail or repeatedly contact someone who has asked you to stop.
- Do not post hate speech or attack, dehumanize or exclude someone based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or another protected characteristic.
- Do not post nudity, sexually explicit content, sexual solicitation or nonconsensual intimate content. Sniffr is not a dating, escort or sexual-services platform.
- Do not share another person's address, contact details, private messages, images or other personal information without permission. Never seek passwords, financial credentials or unnecessary sensitive information.
Protect dogs and plan responsibly
- Do not depict, promote, threaten or carry out animal abuse, neglect, fighting, dangerous handling or intentional endangerment.
- Represent your dog, ownership relationship, health considerations and behavior honestly. Do not conceal known aggression or a meaningful safety risk when arranging a playdate.
- Respect another owner's decision to decline, pause or end an interaction. Ask before offering treats, handling another dog or introducing close contact.
- Choose an appropriate public setting, follow leash and venue rules, supervise your dog and separate dogs at the first sign of unsafe behavior. Sniffr does not supervise or guarantee meetups.
Be authentic and lawful
- You must be 18 or older. Do not impersonate someone, create deceptive profiles, misrepresent a dog or ownership, or evade an account restriction.
- Do not scam, request money under false pretenses, promote fraudulent investments, spam, scrape profiles or use automated tools to manipulate matching or access.
- Do not use Sniffr for illegal activity, animal fighting, unlawful animal sales, exploitative breeding solicitation, trafficking, weapons threats or other dangerous conduct.
- Post only content you have permission to use. Do not infringe copyrights, trademarks, privacy rights or other people's rights.
Report and block
Use the in-app report tool when a profile, message or real-world interaction involving a Sniffr connection may violate these guidelines. Include relevant details without adding unrelated sensitive information. Use blocking whenever you want to prevent further interaction. Do not submit knowingly false, malicious or discriminatory reports.
We aim to begin reviewing submitted reports within 24 hours. This is a target, not a guarantee, and complex matters may take longer. A report may lead to no action, a warning, content removal, feature limits, suspension or account closure depending on context, severity, history and available evidence. Automated image screening helps check supported uploads, but it is not perfect and does not replace member reports or operator review. We do not promise continuous 24-hour monitoring.
Reporting through Sniffr is not a substitute for emergency help. If anyone or any animal is in immediate danger, leave the situation and contact the appropriate local emergency or animal-welfare authority.
Fair enforcement and appeals
We consider context, severity, repeated behavior and risk when choosing a response. Serious conduct may result in immediate restriction or closure. When appropriate, we may act on conduct outside the app that directly involves people or dogs connected through Sniffr. If you believe we made a mistake, you may ask Support to review the decision and provide any relevant context.
